Today we’re doing something a little bit different for this episode of House Stories. We’re showing you what Herman’s Furniture can do to style your business. This is Lakeside Salon & Spa in Lakeside, Ohio.
The owner recently relocated her business into this space, and before giving her clients a fresh look, she wanted Herman’s to give her new space a makeover. When the owner of the salon met with her designer from Herman’s Furniture, she brought inspiration photos that included industrial and modern imagery.
Two complimentary designs
Our designer drew up two looks for her client—one with the modern imagery she was leaning toward, and the other with a shabby chic style that the designer instinctively thought her client would love.
Her hunch was right, and the business owner loved the shabby chic look for her new salon. The next step was to draw up a floor plan to make functional use of the space, which includes a waiting area, styling stations, and a space for manis and pedis.
The first impression begins when you walk in the door. The designer chose to mix high-back chairs with a floral print sofa for the waiting area, accessorizing it with soft textured pillows and lifelike faux plants. You can see that the color pattern is clean and neutral, including shades of brown, gray, white, and green—a perfect palette to allow each customer’s natural beauty to shine.
The designer also created a distressed shiplap wall coated in chalk paint, which serves as a piece of art behind the check-in desk and as the backdrop for the manicure stations.
A variety of chairs were chosen for the mani-pedi stations, and while different in size, shape, texture, and fabric, they intentionally complement each other and bring comfort and style to the business.
Soft white drapes were hung between each pedicure station for privacy. The styling stations reflect the clean beauty of the salon, with round gold brushed mirrors mounted on the walls above vintage-style dressers that serve as storage units for the stylists.
