We love the process of growing with our customers. For the Herman’s design team, it’s not about the lamps, mirrors, fabrics, or sofas; it’s about the relationships and helping our customers create a space that becomes their most loved dwelling place. In today’s episode of House Stories, we visit a golf course vacation home that our designer has worked on over the past decade. The homeowners were ready for a change, replacing their original palette of purple, sage, and peor with a contemporary transitional style that includes grays, blues, and brass accents.
The designer’s goal was to create a golf course vacation home that felt like a retreat for the homeowners while overlooking the peacefulness of the golf course in their backyard. The project began by selecting winter white sofas with bouclé performance fabric. Once these pieces were chosen, our designer began selecting all of the design elements that create a restful space. Gray-tone accents were incorporated into the great room with soft velvet pillows, a tufted round cocktail ottoman, a set of club chairs, and anchored by a monochromatic area rug.
Rather than pairing matching end tables and lamps, the designer chose one dark wood side table and another made of glass and brass, giving an elevated look of contrast to the golf course vacation home. The designer from Herman’s also selected two different lamps with a slim base, both equally sophisticated. One of the most beautiful architectural features in this room are the large windows that allow for an abundance of natural light and a view of the golf course outside. The designer chose Nantucket Shades from Hunter Douglas and stunning custom window treatments that hang from floor to ceiling in this great room. An abstract canvas creates a calming impact above the fireplace and is complemented by clean accessories made of mixed metals, glass, and wood within the large built-in.
The dining area is an open extension of the living room in this golf course vacation home. The homeowners wanted to keep their original table and chandelier. To pull the space together, the designer selected a geometric gray fabric for the dining chairs, and custom valances were chosen to give the room a finished look while complementing the design flow of the home. A set of deep blue decanters were added to the butler bar cart to make hosting impromptu drinks easy and simple while adding a serene pop of color to the space.
