What Does a Furniture Store With Design Services Offer?
Traditional furniture shopping often means selecting individual pieces one at a time and trying to figure out how everything will work together once you get home. As a furniture store with design services, Herman’s takes a broader approach.
Our designers look at the entire space, including furniture, rugs, artwork, accessories, window treatments, colors, floor plans, and other design elements. The goal is to create a coordinated design that considers both appearance and function. That can be especially valuable when you are furnishing multiple rooms, starting with an empty space, downsizing, renovating, or building a new home.
Instead of wondering whether the sofa will work with the rug, whether the dining furniture is the right scale for the room, or how to finish an empty wall, you have a professional designer helping you make those decisions.
The Herman’s Interior Design Process
Great interior design always starts with listening. Before recommending furniture or finishes, Herman’s designers take the time to understand your home, your preferences, how you use your space, and the budget you have established for the project.
1. INITIAL HOUSE CALL
The process begins with an in-home consultation. Your designer measures the space, discusses your lifestyle and budget, and learns about your favorite colors, styles, and sources of inspiration.
Already have furniture you want to keep? That can be incorporated into the plan as well.
The goal is to understand the room as it really exists so the design can be tailored to the space rather than based on a generic showroom setup.
2. PRESENTATION & DESIGN CONSULT
Once your designer understands your space and goals, they create personalized design concepts for you to review.
Herman’s provides two custom design concepts, giving you the opportunity to compare ideas, discuss options, experience fabrics and furniture in person, and refine the direction of the project.
Our designers consider factors such as quality, comfort, budget, scale, functionality, and how the finished space will work together. They can also assist with decisions such as paint colors and flooring.
3. DELIVERY & FINAL STYLING
The design process does not end when your furniture is delivered. Herman’s designers can also help with the finishing details that make a room feel complete, including accessories, shelving, mantels, and gallery walls. Those final details can be what turns a room filled with furniture into a finished interior that feels personal and intentional.
Herman’s interior design service is 100% complimentary when you furnish with us. *A small, non-refundable deposit is required to secure the service and is applied toward qualifying decorating or furnishing purchases used to implement the approved design.
Three Types of Interior Design Services at Herman’s

Personalized Interior Design Services
For homeowners looking to transform a room or an entire home, Herman’s personalized interior design service provides professional guidance from the initial ideas through the finishing touches. Your designer can help coordinate furniture, rugs, artwork, accessories, window treatments, colors, and other elements based on your style and the way you live.
This service can be helpful for a wide range of projects, including:
- New construction homes
- Complete home redesigns
- Living rooms and great rooms
- Dining rooms
- Bedrooms
- Home offices
- Vacation homes and getaways
- Single-room makeovers
- Downsizing projects
Even when you know what you like, pulling all of the individual pieces together can be challenging. A professional designer will help establish scale, balance, color, function, and flow so that the finished room feels cohesive. Herman’s design team is also focused on providing guidance without pressure. Our designers are professional, helpful, and committed to working within each customer’s budget and home.
Kitchen Design
The kitchen is one of the hardest-working spaces in the home. It needs to look beautiful, but it also needs to support everything from everyday meals and storage to entertaining and gathering with family and friends. Herman’s Ohio kitchen design services are designed around exactly that balance.
Whether you are building a new home, remodeling an existing kitchen, or simply looking for ideas, the process starts with a consultation focused on your goals, lifestyle, design preferences, and budget.
Your designer reviews the existing space, takes measurements, and talks through what is working and what you would like to change. From there, Herman’s can help explore layouts, finishes, colors, materials, furnishings, and other design elements.
The goal is not simply to create a beautiful kitchen. It is to create a kitchen that works beautifully for the people who use it. That could mean thinking about how much storage you need, where people naturally gather, how you entertain, how your family uses the kitchen, and how the kitchen connects visually and functionally with the rest of your home.
Herman’s provides kitchen design services for both new construction and remodeling projects, allowing homeowners to develop a cohesive vision that fits their existing home or their plans for a new one.
Custom Window Treatments
Windows can have a major impact on the look and feel of a room, but they are often one of the last design elements homeowners think about. Custom window treatments can provide the finishing touch while also addressing practical concerns such as privacy, light control, glare, drafts, and smart home integration.
Herman’s custom window treatment service begins with an initial consultation. Your designer learns about the room, your goals, your aesthetic preferences, and any functional issues you want to address.
From there, Herman’s presents style and color options designed to work with the rest of your interior. Options can range from classic shutters to layered window treatments, with solutions tailored to the look and needs of the room.
Once your selections are finalized, professional installation ensures that your window treatments are properly installed. Herman’s can also assist with smart home programming when applicable.
Custom window treatments are not simply about making a window look better. They can help complete the overall interior design while making a room more comfortable, private, and functional.
